Can You Crack the Case?Uncover the truth in Middle School Crime Scene Investigators, a hands-on summer experience for curious, gifted learners. Students step into the role of detectives, analyzing clues, examining fingerprints, and piecing together evidence to solve mysteries. Through real-world forensic challenges, they’ll sharpen critical thinking, observation, and problem-solving skills.

Princeton Review SAT® Prep Class
Students who actively participate in the Princeton Review course significantly increase their performance on their SAT, thus increasing their opportunities to gain admission to college and universities, and earn scholarships and entry into select programs. This virtual course focuses exclusively on the math and verbal skills specific to the SAT.Before you register, please be aware of the following expectations: Student should only register to attend one session. Student must attend all days of the course. Student will receive log on instructions from their instructor, and must log on daily by the designated start time for their course and stay every day for the duration of their designated course time. A firm commitment from both the student and their family is required in order to maximize the impact of the course. The fee for this course is $125.00 (reduced from $700.00!) and includes all materials and instruction. Every student is welcome. If financial aid is required to offset the cost, please complete the Scholarship Request Form. Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We have limited seats available. Based on the success of previous courses, we anticipate that the available seats will fill quickly. No refunds will be issued for Cancellation Request Forms submitted after the 2nd class date. A materials fee of $75 cannot be refunded after materials have been picked up.

Discover the exciting world of aviation in this engaging, hands-on class for students in grades 8–12. Taught by a private pilot and teacher, this course explores how airplanes fly through easy-to-understand lessons on aerodynamics and real-world examples. Students will design, build, and fly balsa wood model airplanes, learning through testing and friendly challenges. We’ll talk about what it takest o become a pilot, explore aviation careers, and see how pilots use weather, instruments, and technology to make decisions. Videos,simulations, and interactive activities bring aviation to life and connect science and problem-solving to real flight experiences. Students who are participating in a full day camp must bring their own nut-free sack lunch, morning and afternoon snack, and water bottle.

In this hands-on class,students will learn to storyboard, write scripts, film, and edit their own projects. From brainstorming ideas to creating short videos, you’ll gain the skills to bring your stories to life and have fun along the way! This camp offers a fun and creative environment where students can experiment with video production while developing storytelling, technical, and teamwork skills. By the end of the camp, each student will have completed their own short video project to share and showcase! Each day, young chefs will “open” a new kind of restaurant—from a neighborhood bakery to a food truck, a cozy bistro, and a gourmet fine dining spot. College Application Workshop (Gr. 11-12) by RRISD Teacher
Academics
The College Application Workshop will prepare students to submit a comprehensive package to universities which highlights their strengths and demonstrates interest in their preferred major. Students will complete their Personal Essay and Supplemental essays (as available), develop a resume, create a "Brag Sheet" to provide to adults who will write recommendation letters, produce detailed lists of clubs, organizations, activities, awards and work experience and review SAT/ ACT scores in the context of their preferred university and major. Recommendations will be offered to strengthen the application. Students will learn about the different types of admission offered, when and where to complete the FAFSA, Cost of Attendance and scholarship resources. Additionally, students will contact admissions representatives for their chosen school/major and have the opportunity to register for university admissions programs. *Guardian permission and presence is required for many on-campus presentations. On-line programs are widely available. Workshop is taught by a Texas certified English teacher with experience as a College Coach and as an Application Reviewer for a Texas Tier 1 University. Needed Supplies: Students MUST have RRISD provided laptop daily. Student must bring on the first day: *GPA/ Class Rank and unofficial transcript *AP Courses, Scores and access to College Board *Interest list of colleges & majors *List of extracurricular activities, clubs and organizations, awards, volunteer hours, work experience, job shadowing, etc.

Looking for a fun, creative summer activity? Our Beginner Crochet Summer Camp teaches kids the basics of crochet in a friendly, hands-on environment. Campers earn how to hold a hook and yarn, make simple stitches, and create small projects to take home. No experience needed! Crochet helps build focus, patience, and fine motor skills while encouraging creativity in a calm,screen-free space. Kids gain confidence, make friends, and stitch something special each day. Ink Lab: Printmaking Camp (Gr. 5-9) by Awesome Art Austin

A four-day printmaking camp for tweens and teens! Campers explore silkscreen, foam-plate etching, block printing, and cyanotype, turning their designs into T-shirts, totes, bandanas, and patches. On the final day we host a mini exhibit, exchange an edition, and everyone takes home a portfolio of classmates’ work. Led by an experienced arts educator and small, woman-owned business owner who creates inclusive, hands-on art programs for schools, libraries, museums, and community organizations.
