Rooks Chess Tournament
The Round Rock ISD Rooks Chess Tournament is for novice players. It is open to any student who is enrolled within the District in grades 2-8. Students must have a current membership to the United States Chess Federation to participate.The Rooks tournament runs from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM on a flexible schedule as rounds finish. After round 1, sections will proceed independently from other sections. We may finish before 4:00 PM. Check in for the Rooks tournament begins at 7:45 AM Round 1 matches begin at 8:30 AM. (Late arrivals will not be added to Round 1 and will be assigned a forfeit loss.) Rounds take from 40 minutes to 1 hour to run and we proceed as quickly as we can throughout the day. Tournament Details: Date: November 16, 2024 Location: Ridgeview Middle School -- 2000 Via Sonoma Trail, Round Rock TX 78665 Sections: Under 600, Under 300 (Sections may be merged if needed) 5 Rounds Time Control: Game in 30 delay 5 Clocks and boards provided Students who place in the top 6 of their section will receive a certificate. To register your student for the tournament please complete the following form before Friday, November 8 at 5:00 PM. Registration closes at that time or when the tournament seats fill.

Knights Chess Tournament
This Round Rock ISD Knights Chess Tournament is our most competitive tournament. It is open to any student who is enrolled within the District in grades 2-8. Students must have a current membership to the United States Chess Federation to participate.Previous tournament experience is recommended for all participants.The Knights tournament runs from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM on a flexible schedule as rounds finish. Let your creativity shine and be part of something magical! About the teacher: Ms. Glover is the theatre teacher here at JLJ. This is her first year in Round Rock ISD. Prior to joining our campus, she lived and taught as a theatre teacher in Galveston. Ms. Glover loves performing, creating, and collaborating, and is excited to work with students this year who want to grow their love for theatre.

YMCA eSports: Minecraft & Rocket League (Gr. 2-5) by YMCA of Central Texas
eSports
eSports is a great way to improve your child's communication skills and increase group collaboration. Playing games such as Minecraft and Rocket League requires strategy from all players and will help develop the thought process behind problem-solving and critical thinking. Each session will consist of Minecraft and Rocket League curriculum.
