Kids Talk: Debate & Public Speaking Club (Gr. 1-5) by Compuchild
Students build confidence and strong communication and critical thinking skills through public speaking, persuasive writing, storytelling, and structured policy debate. They learn to express ideas clearly, construct persuasive arguments, and explore real-world topics and ethical dilemmas. Through impromptu speaking, debate practice, and TED-style presentations, students strengthen reasoning, stage presence, and leadership while learning to respectfully consider different perspectives. The program culminates in a Public Speaking & Policy Debate Showcase, where students deliver speeches and participate in a championship debate demonstrating the skills developed during the program. We take our young learners on an exciting journey into the world of Minecraft. While they indulge in their favorite game, they also acquire the skills to apply coding and elevate their Minecraft adventures. Through the use of icon/block-based coding blocks, our students not only craft a more immersive gaming world but also foster their coding literacy by comprehending and interpreting these blocks, setting free the bounds of their creativity. No prior experience necessary! Students must bring their charged District Chromebook to class each week. We take our young learners on an exciting journey into the world of Minecraft.
