Through a series of creative hands-on activities and projects, students will examine the structure, function, and relationships of body systems and their relevance to personal health. Students will discuss and demonstrate procedures for responding to emergencies using real life scenarios. Using a variety of teaching methods including visual, auditory, kinesthetic and interpersonal, students will participate in activities that promote learning in a style that is most meaningful to them. This teaching style will improve their ability to develop and sustain health-promoting behaviors. This instruction creates empowered and educated students who are able to make decisions that keep themselves and others safe. Elevate your caregiving skills by joining our Babysitting and Child Care class today! We cover a variety of topics that will improve your child’s ability to respond to emergencies, keep themselves and others safe, and provide exceptional child care. Our certified instructors lead engaging class discussions, hands-on skills training, and fun role-playing activities that will prepare your child to become one of the most capable, trusted and in-demand sitters in your neighborhood. This class concludes with a Babysitting Certification from American Red Cross that includes child and infant CPR. Students who are participating in a full day camp must bring their own nut-free sack lunch, morning and afternoon snack, and water bottle. Get ready for a hands-on, creative summer camp where you’ll explore the world of hand sewing! This camp is perfect for beginners and anyone interested in learning practical skills while creating beautiful, handmade items. What you’ll learn: Basic Stitches: Master essential stitches like running stitch, back stitch, and whip stitch Threading a Needle: Learn how to thread a needle and use basic sewing tools with confidence Sewing on Buttons: Practice sewing buttons onto fabric for practical use Mending and Altering Clothes: Repair small tears or rips and make simple alterations to your garments Creating Handmade Items: Make unique, handcrafted gifts for friends and family While we won’t be using machines in this camp, you can bring yours to learn how to set it up, understand its functions, and use it for future projects. Hand sewing is a great introduction to the fiber arts, and this camp will inspire you to be both practical and creative. Whether you’re fixing old clothes or making something new, you’ll leave with valuable skills you can use for years to come!
