VEX Robotics Introduction (Gr. 6-8) by RRISD Teacher
Students participating in this mid level introductory robotics course will be working with VEX EXP robots. Over the course of the days students will learn the basics of design and and use basic hand tools to build robots in a small group. By the end of the week they will be able to code their robots to participate in challenges or games. Princeton Review SAT® Prep Class
Students who actively participate in the Princeton Review course significantly increase their performance on their SAT, thus increasing their opportunities to gain admission to college and universities, and earn scholarships and entry into select programs. This virtual course focuses exclusively on the math and verbal skills specific to the SAT.Before you register, please be aware of the following expectations: Student should only register to attend one session. Student must attend all days of the course. Student will receive log on instructions from their instructor, and must log on daily by the designated start time for their course and stay every day for the duration of their designated course time. A firm commitment from both the student and their family is required in order to maximize the impact of the course. The fee for this course is $125.00 (reduced from $700.00!) and includes all materials and instruction. Every student is welcome. If financial aid is required to offset the cost, please complete the Scholarship Request Form. Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We have limited seats available. Based on the success of previous courses, we anticipate that the available seats will fill quickly. No refunds will be issued for Cancellation Request Forms submitted after the 2nd class date. A materials fee of $75 cannot be refunded after materials have been picked up.

Our Little Coders camp is an opportunity for young children to develop their computational thinking skills, build their first programs, and have fun with new friends! The curriculum is designed specifically for early readers and takes into account cognitive abilities as well as the attention span typical for ages 5-7. We use age-appropriate online tools, including Lightbot, Kodable, and Scratch to introduce basic coding skills. After the camp, students will be able to share their projects with family and friends and continue programming at home with their Coding with Kids Scratch account. Explore the world of programming with Python! Learn one of the most versatile and beginner-friendly programming languages, used by professionals in diverse fields from software development to scientific research. In this course, students will be introduced to core coding concepts such as variables, loops, functions, and conditionals. To apply and practice the concepts, students will build interactive projects like Dodge the Meteors. Then, they’ll learn intermediate-level coding concepts like arrays, functions with parameters, and game physics! Applying these skills, they will unleash their inner game designers and build their own versions of classic arcade games like Brick Breaker, Bubble Pop, Star Invaders, and Pong. By the end of the course, students will not only have a solid foundation in Python but will also be able to design and develop their own arcade games, combining fun with practical coding experience. Looking for a hands-on STEM course your Little Coder will love? In this course, students will have a blast while learning about robots and how they work. Through visual programming, students will learn computational thinking and basic programming concepts such as: pseudo-coding, code structure, variables, and loops. Students will participate in fun and engaging activities to practice problem-solving and creative thinking. They will complete interactive projects and code their robots to perform tasks like turning the robot’s lights on and off, playing music, moving, and detecting sound. Python is a very versatile and easy-to-learn starter language that is widely used by software developers, scientists and data analysts, from medical research to applications at NASA. Through the games they create, students will learn and practice core coding concepts and learn Python-specific concepts and syntax. Projects range from trivia quizzes to competitive two-player games and everything in between. Students will gain valuable experience with key concepts such as data structures and algorithms. *FULL DAY* Scratch Game Development (Gr. 3-6) by Coding with Kids #5B

Embark on an exciting coding adventure! This comprehensive full-day camp blends coding and creative game development. Students will use Scratch, a fun drag-and-drop coding environment, to learn fundamental coding concepts like variables, loops, and conditionals. Applying these concepts, students will build interest-based games, such as Pet and Ball, Shark and Fish, and Snowman Maze. They will creatively design characters and craft scenes to bring their own story and animation ideas to life. Then, they will level up to intermediate coding concepts like events, functions, and game physics to build engaging platformer games, including a custom Mario game. This camp is a perfect mix of fun and learning! This camp combines the content from both our beginner camp 'Scratch: Intro to Game Development' and our intermediate camp 'Scratch: Platformer and Maze Games I'.
