Kinder Readiness Camp (for incoming kinder students) by Round Rock ISD Teacher
Each week your child will learn about a famous children's author. All of the activities will include language arts and math activities.Kindergarten is just around the corner. This camp will allow your child to become accustomed to a typical Kindergarten day with a variety of learning activities. We will practice basic skills such as using scissors, writing their name, and building basic fine motor skills that your child needs throughout the typical Kinder day. Your child will experience hands on learning with letters, sounds, reading, writing, and math skills. Your child will also experience how the world around us can help grow our mindset. Come join the fun and let's get ready for Kindergarten. Student must be 5 yrs old by Sept. 1, 2024

In this session, students will discover the magic of turning sunlight into electricity. This hands-on experiment not only teaches the principles of renewable energy but also allows your child to build their own Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells! Get ready for an engaging and enlightening adventure in science and technology! Note: Solar cells will NOT be taken home after camp and students will need their Round Rock ISD student issued Chromebooks and chargers for this session.

Students will share their website with other campers and create a survey using Google Forms to get peer feedback. With this information, students will improve and refine their final product. Poetry and music both use language and sound to create meaning and evoke emotion. In this summer camp, we will be exploring poetry through music lyrics by popular artists like Taylor Swift. Students will have an opportunity to analyze her music for literary elements, and take what they learn to create their own poetry/songs. We will have lots of fun creating, singing, performing and writing!

Underground Explorers (Gr. 1-6) by Mad Science
Science
Learn about archaeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate long lost cities. Discover ancient civilizations and the tools and artifacts they used in everyday life. Study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits, and fossils; understand what they can tell us about history. Make and take-home projects each day, like a fossil reproduction, an amber time capsule, coins from around the world! VEX Robotics Introduction (Gr. 6-8)

Students participating in this mid level introductory robotics course will be working with VEX EXP robots. Over the course of the days students will learn the basics of design and and use basic hand tools to build robots in a small group. By the end of the week they will be able to code their robots to participate in challenges or games. Wild and Wacky Walkers Robots Gr. 3-6 by American Robotics Academy
Robotics
Wild and Wacky Robot Walkers & Steerable Cars: Learn the basic mechanical properties of “how things work and move” through a total hands-on learning experience. Learn STEM aspects and understand the robotics aspect with each build. Students will work with Lego technic parts that come together to create movable, steerable, and remote-controlled robots. They will engage in a group of four with assigned roles as Instructor, Engineer, Builder, and Cross checker that rotates daily. They are encouraged to work as a team and will explore the use of motors, gears, pulleys, axles, wheels, IR technology and much more. Each build will be followed by a thrilling challenge that illustrates the need for modifications and also the need for “simplicity” and pitfalls of “complexity”. Have FUN racing your car and compete with other teams each day.
