TAG Festival (Second & Third Grade) - LEGO® Robotics
This camp is an introduction to Lego Robotics. In this session, students will be exposed to basic coding strategies. Each day they will create at least one project independently after learning the necessary skills. On Thursday, we will host a showcase for students to demonstrate their final project to their families. Note: Students will need their Round Rock ISD student issued Chromebooks and chargers for this session.

This camp will allow your child to become accustomed to a typical Kindergarten day with a variety of learning activities. We will practice basic skills such as using scissors, writing their name, and building basic fine motor skills that your child needs throughout the typical Kinder day. Your child will experience hands on learning with letters, sounds, reading, writing, and math skills. Your child will also experience how the world around us can help grow our mindset. LEGO® Amazing Machines (Gr. 1-4) by ESTEAM Learning Labs

Young Engineers are given age-appropriate LEGO® lessons and games, and LEGO® sets with plenty of instructors to help with building. Concepts of simple machines such as gears, pulleys, levers, and wheels are introduced through a series of activity-card LEGO® building projects. With the use of motors and electrical controls, the models come alive right before their eyes! They will be challenged with the LEGO® WeDo robotics, LEGO® Mindstorms, LEGO® Simple Machines, and LEGO® Maker projects. Students will have the opportunity to work on both engineering and coding as they build their own robotic creations. Our Little Coders class offers young children the perfect opportunity to develop their computational thinking skills, create their first programs, and have a blast with their friends! Our curriculum is tailored specifically for early readers and takes into consideration their cognitive abilities and attention span, typically found in children aged 5-7. We utilize age-appropriate online tools, including Lightbot, Kodable, and Scratch, to introduce fundamental coding skills. Beginner students learn essential coding concepts such as Loops and Conditions. We'll be using Scratch, a fun drag-and-drop coding tool which lets you create cool games, animations, and interactive stories. In this class we will use a pattern to cut, stuff, and machine sew one to two custom stuffed animals. Stuffed animals can be made from two or three different colors. Wild and Wacky Walkers Robots Gr. 3-6 by American Robotics Academy

Wild and Wacky Robot Walkers & Steerable Cars: Learn the basic mechanical properties of “how things work and move” through a total hands-on learning experience. Learn STEM aspects and understand the robotics aspect with each build. Students will work with Lego technic parts that come together to create movable, steerable, and remote-controlled robots. They will engage in a group of four with assigned roles as Instructor, Engineer, Builder, and Cross checker that rotates daily. They are encouraged to work as a team and will explore the use of motors, gears, pulleys, axles, wheels, IR technology and much more. Each build will be followed by a thrilling challenge that illustrates the need for modifications and also the need for “simplicity” and pitfalls of “complexity”.
