In Design & Play, campers will dive into the fundamentals of chess, practicing strategies, tactics, and classic moves to strengthen their game. This camp is perfect for beginners and young chess enthusiasts ready to explore the world of strategy, problem-solving, and friendly competition. Alongside daily chess lessons and friendly matches, campers will tap into their creativity to design a custom chessboard and unique pieces, making each set as unique as its creator. Greetings, adventurers! I am your Game Master, Mr. Mike, and welcome to an introductory course into the world of Dungeons and Dragons^™ . Join me as a group of adventurers where imagination and your teamwork are your biggest tools, (as well as a little luck), in going on a quest to save the fate of your school! As a Game Master of 10 years, I will guide players through a creative adventure in a world of challenges, puzzles, and encounters. What to Expect: Imaginative Storytelling: As the Game Master (me!), I will describe the environment, characters, and situations while you and your fellow players interact and build the story together. Collaborative Gameplay: You’ll work as a team to solve problems, navigate obstacles, and create memorable moments. Everyone plays a vital role in shaping the adventure. Outdoor Challenges: I will have a series of challenges ready to simulate each of the core Stats (Strength, Dexterity, and intelligence, for example) and how they can be seen and used in real life. . What You’ll Learn and Experience: Teamwork and Communication: Dungeons & Dragons is all about collaboration. Players will interact with one another, fostering friendship and teamwork. Problem-Solving Skills: Encountering challenges is a huge part of the adventure. Players will work together to find solutions and think critically. Imagination and Creativity: The game encourages creative thinking as players invent their characters and shape the narrative. Light Math Practice: Expect to use simple math skills like addition and subtraction during gameplay, helping develop quick thinking and math fluency. Physical Activity: The game will include some physical movement, such as carrying a bucket of water over a distance, playing bocce balls for precision practice, , as players act out parts of the adventure.
