ThinkHer: Discovery Day
ThinkHer is a discovery day for girls in 3rd and 4th grade who are interested in exploring chess and STEM based activities. Participants will explore chess and STEM activities in a hands on workshop setting. All students will play a single round of tournament style chess to end the day. Every participant will go home with their own chess set! Students will participate in the following activities: Chess- 2 Leveled lessons based on experience, no prior knowledge needed Nerdy Cooks- Science based cooking experiments Robotics- Building and coding with LEGO SPIKE Essentials Forensics- Basic forensics skills with the female officers of the Round Rock ISD Police Department This event will run from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM on Saturday, March 8 at C.D. Fulkes Middle School. Lunch will be provided. You will receive a lunch order form the week of the event. There is no fee to participate.

Greetings, adventurers! I am your Game Master, Mr. Mike, and welcome to an introductory course into the world of Dungeons and Dragons^™ . Join me as a group of adventurers where imagination and your teamwork are your biggest tools, (as well as a little luck), in going on a quest to save the fate of your school! As a Game Master of 10 years, I will guide players through a creative adventure in a world of challenges, puzzles, and encounters. What to Expect: Imaginative Storytelling: As the Game Master (me!), I will describe the environment, characters, and situations while you and your fellow players interact and build the story together. Collaborative Gameplay: You’ll work as a team to solve problems, navigate obstacles, and create memorable moments. Everyone plays a vital role in shaping the adventure. Outdoor Challenges: I will have a series of challenges ready to simulate each of the core Stats (Strength, Dexterity, and intelligence, for example) and how they can be seen and used in real life. . Repetition: Learn how repeating elements, such as shapes or colors, can bring unity and consistency to a design. Agents in training will receive their super-secret mission during each camp and then learn to build and code a robot that will have to move through obstacles to retrieve top-secret documents. They will be challenged to incorporate technology concepts, engineering principles, and programming using the LEGO© robotics Construction Kits. Campers will learn how to break or make codes, learn coding, surveillance techniques, critical thinking, and solve logic puzzles. Each camp has new missions!
