Adventures and Coding in Minecraft (Gr. 1-5) by Wize Computing Academy
Coding & Programming
We take our young learners on an exciting journey into the world of Minecraft. While they indulge in their favorite game, they also acquire the skills to apply coding and elevate their Minecraft adventures. Through the use of icon/block-based coding blocks, our students not only craft a more immersive gaming world but also foster their coding literacy by comprehending and interpreting these blocks, setting free the bounds of their creativity. No prior experience necessary! Students must bring their charged District Chromebook to class each week. We take our young learners on an exciting journey into the world of Minecraft. Little Engineers: Intro to Simple Machines (Gr. K-2) by Coding with Kids
Coding & Programming
Does your child love to build and figure out how things work? This exciting, hands-on course is the perfect first step into the world of engineering! In this course, young makers will learn these big ideas by actually building them in fun, hands-on, mission-based challenges. Students will build inventions to help a friendly class mascot complete mini-missions, such as crossing a canyon with a bridge or lifting treasure with a pulley crane. Along the way, they will practice core engineering skills like problem-solving, testing, and refining designs. Prerequisites: Basic reading helpful but not required. Can handle mouse and keyboard comfortably. Young Engineers: Smart Devices Lab (Gr. 3-5) by Coding with Kids
Coding & Programming
Students become inventors as they build and program exciting smart devices that move, react, and solve real-world problems. Working both independently and with classmates, they’ll design creative solutions and discover how engineering and computer science come together to power the technology they see every day. Projects include an automatic garage gate that detects approaching cars, motion-activated gadgets, and other inventions using an Arduino Microcontroller (think a small computer on a single chip), motors, sensors, and coding. As students bring their ideas to life, they’ll develop the confidence to tackle open-ended challenges and think like engineers. Through teamwork and problem-solving, they’ll discover that they can create technology—not just use it—while making new friends who love building amazing things, too.
