Rooks Chess Tournament
The Round Rock ISD Rooks Chess Tournament is for novice players. It is open to any student who is enrolled within the District in grades 2-8. Students must have a current membership to the United States Chess Federation to participate.The Rooks tournament runs from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM on a flexible schedule as rounds finish. After round 1, sections will proceed independently from other sections. We may finish before 4:00 PM. Check in for the Rooks tournament begins at 7:45 AM Round 1 matches begin at 8:30 AM. (Late arrivals will not be added to Round 1 and will be assigned a forfeit loss.) Rounds take from 40 minutes to 1 hour to run and we proceed as quickly as we can throughout the day. Tournament Details: Date:March 28, 2026 Location:To Be Determined Sections: Under 600, Under 300 (Sections may be merged if needed) 5 Rounds Time Control: Game in 30 delay 5 Clocks and boards provided Students who place in the top 6 of their section will receive a certificate. To register your student for the tournament please complete the following form before March 23 at 8:00 AM. Registration closes at that time or when the tournament seats fill.

Pawns Chess Tournament
The Round Rock ISD Pawns Chess Tournament is for true novice chess players who want to experience a formal tournament setting, but aren't ready to commit to having a United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership. It is open to any student who is enrolled within the District in grades 2-8.The Pawns tournament runs from 8:45 AM to 1:30 PM on a flexible schedule as rounds finish. After round 1, sections will proceed independently from other sections. We may finish before 1:30 PM. Check in for the Pawns tournament begins at 8:45 AM Round 1 matches begin at 9:30 AM. (Late arrivals will not be added to Round 1 and will be assigned a forfeit loss.) Rounds take from 20 minutes to 40 minutes to run and we proceed as quickly as we can throughout the day. Attention, young chefs! Report to the kitchen for a week of culinary basic training, where we’ll sharpen skills, build confidence, and master the fundamentals every chef needs to know. From knife safety (with child-safe knives!) to measuring, mixing, and seasoning, each day is packed with hands-on practice and delicious results. Campers will graduate with the essential kitchen know-how to cook with courage, creativity, and confidence. Let your children release their inner ma-STIR-chef! Our professional chef instructors provide safe, engaging, hands-on learning, but it’s your chefs who prep and cook! Our classes are a BLAST for all ages and recipes are never repeated throughout the school year! When kids get to touch the ingredients and create their own recipes, they’re much more willing to try new foods. We provide the tools, ingredients, and instruction needed to cook up a delicious, healthy, and hearty after-school snack each week. Our online recipe collection is also included for family cooking at home! Sticky Fingers Cooking is 100% nut free. We CAN accommodate ANY food allergies. Even after our art adventure ends, the magic will live to infinity and beyond in your sketchbook! Afternoon:Once Upon a THYME... In a summer camp far far away, young chefs stepped into the pages of beloved children’s books and brought the stories to life through cooking! In our Cooks + Books camp, we’ll stir up recipes inspired by favorite tales—like rolling out fun with The Magic School Bus and cooking our way through adventures with Monkey with a Toolbelt and the Maniac Muffins! It’s the perfect recipe for summer fun: blending reading, creativity, and hands-on cooking.
