Through interactive teaching and group participation, students will learn how to create stronger sentences by studying proper phrasing and vibrant vocabulary. By modeling strong sentence patterns, group writing, and individual practice, students will perfect strong sentence skills. They will also grow their vocabulary by learning vocabulary words from the perspective of their Greek and Latin root words. This tactic helps students grow their vocabulary faster and increases their ability to know the meaning of new words when they come across them on tests or in reading by quickly spotting familiar “roots.” Research shows that this ability helps students on standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. Students will learn more advanced mental math strategies, which will help them in quicker more efficient math. While these principles will not replace a full math curriculum, they will aid in understanding and completion of various math problems and concepts present in middle school, high school, and competition math.
